How to Scan to USB on a Sharp Copier (MX-3070/MX-3071 Series)

Need a quick way to digitize documents? Scanning directly to a USB stick is one of the easiest and fastest features on a Sharp copier. If you’re using a Sharp MX-3070, MX-3071, or a similar model, this guide walks you through how to use the Easy Scan feature for USB scanning.

What You’ll Need

A USB flash drive (FAT32 format recommended)
A Sharp copier with Easy Scan (e.g. MX-3070, MX-3071)
Your paper document ready to scan

How to Scan to USB Using Easy Scan

Step 1: Insert Your USB Stick

Plug the USB stick into the port located on the right side of the control panel.

Once inserted, the screen may give you a prompt. If not, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Press ‘Easy Scan’ at the Top of the Screen

On the touchscreen, tap “Easy Scan” from the top of the home screen.

This is the quickest way to access your scanning options.

Step 3: Choose USB as the Destination

In the Easy Scan menu:

Tap the “Address” field or destination setting
Choose “USB Device” as the destination
Confirm your selection

Now, your scan will be saved directly to your USB stick.

Step 4: Place Your Document

Load your original:

In the ADF tray (for multi-page scanning)
Or on the glass (for single sheets or ID cards)

Step 5: Adjust Settings (Optional)

You can customize:

File format (PDF, JPEG, etc.)
Colour or B/W
Resolution
1-sided or 2-sided scanning

These settings help you get the exact results you need.

Step 6: Press ‘Start’ to Begin Scanning

Once everything is set, press Start. Your document will scan and save directly to your USB stick.

Step 7: Remove the USB Safely

Wait for the message confirming the scan is complete. Then remove your USB stick.

Quick Tips

USB not showing up? Make sure it’s formatted in FAT32.
No scan option available? Try reinserting the USB and restarting the screen.
